January 12, 2010 - Weatherization Training Center Media Day
On Tuesday January 12, LACAP held a Weatherization Media Day Promotion, in which members of Community Action Agencies around the country were in attendance. Kyla Johnson, a recent recipient of the weatherization services in Franklin Parish, spoke about the impact the program has made in her life. Other speakers include Don Mathis, president of the national Community Action Partnership based in Washington D.C., and Jon Phelps, LACAP energy director.
October 30, 2009- Nation Weatherization Day, LACAP Open House
As part of National Weatherization Day, LACAP held an open house at their state-of-the-art training facility. Throughout the day, on-site demonstrations were conducted, providing participants from 17 parishes with tips on how to effectively reduce monthly energy cost of homes.
Weatherization Assistance Program Training Facilities
Louisiana Association of Community Action Partnerships (LACAP) Training Center, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a twelve thousand square foot, state of the art training center, featuring a custom curriculum designed to utilize the facility’s large classrooms, computer lab, and full size model homes for hands on demonstrations.
WVLA NBC 33 featured a news segment explaining how LACAP is using stimulus money to help outfit homes with the latest in weatherization technology.
In this news segment, featuring LACAP, LPB showcased how proper weatherization techniques can help to reduce heating costs long term.
WRKF featured a newscast focusing on LACAP’s training center, interviewing attendees from various training classes. The newscast also features Don Mathis, president of the national Community Action Partnership, based in Washington D.C.
March 4, 2010 NASCSP 200 Mid-Winter Conference
At the annual conference held in Washington D.C., Jon Phelps, energy director at LACAP, conducted a presentation entitled “LACAP Weatherization Training Center: Trainer Development.”
Setting Up an Effective Weatherization Training Program

It also shows how to overcome many of these issues by providing advice on how to get the most out of the resources available.
